MSO-HNS - Society Guidelines For Running Courses

I. Proposed criteria of organization of events involving the MSO-HNS.

Item A:
To organize an International Conference/Seminar/ using MSO-HNS as a platform:

  • Written request must be submitted to the EXCO for approval to use the society as a platform.
  • Written request for an initial advance up to a maximum of RM50,000 which is to be approved
    by the EXCO.
  • On completion of the event the entire advanced money shall be returned together with surplus
    from the event.
  • Statement of accounts from the organizing committee shall be submitted to the EXCO.

Item B (i):
Organizing a National level conference/seminar/workshop using the resources of the society:

  • Written request must be submitted to the EXCO for approval to use the society as a platform.
  • All receipts and payments are recorded and maintained by the Honorary Treasurer and any
    surplus shall be credited to the society’s fund.

Item B (ii):
Organizing a National level conference/seminar/workshop without using the resources of the society.

  • The society shall not be involved in the organization of the event.
  • However if the society’s logo is to be used, prior written permission must be obtained from the
    EXCO.
  • A sum of RM 1000.00 will be charged to the organizing committee of the event as levy for
    using the society’s logo.

Item C:
Organizing meetings/seminars/workshops at state or district levels.

  • If the organizing chairman is planning to use the society as a co-sponsor, using the resources
    of the society, the event will be considered as a society run event. Prior written permission for
    approval must be obtained from the EXCO and all financial transactions need to go through
    the Honorary Treasurer.
  • An event organized without the society’s resources is considered a locally run event and the
    society shall not be involved.

II. Any event organized by the society or using the resources of the society, a subsidized rate for registration fees may be offered to Life and Ordinary Members of the society, the amount of subsidy is at the discretion of the Organizing Committee with the approval of the EXCO.

III. A grant of RM 5,000.00 will be provided annually for ENT Departments of any hospital to organize an event at state or district levels to promote awareness and disseminate knowledge in ENT.


To apply for this grant, an application must be submitted by the 30 th of September to the EXCO for approval. Any application received after this date will not be entertained. Each department will be paid only once a year a maximum amount of RM 500.00. The grant will be paid on submission of the report of the event along with the statement of accounts.
